The other 55%? Well, it’s likely one of two things…
1. We got lost in the noise of an overwhelmed inbox…
Most people get upwards of 80 emails a day and nearly 50% of those are spam —that’s like having a parade of door-to-door salespeople camping on your porch.
2. You think it’s like all the other emails you get sent to you by real people written by the smarter, funnier, ChatGPT version of themselves.
Also a fair assumption. In December 2024, ChatGPT hit 300 million weekly users, with 80% using it to crank out content — that’s like the population of the U.S. all writing blog posts at the same time.
Maybe I picked the absolute wrong time to actually write emails OR maybe it’s the best time ever.
I love writing them. It’s like starting a conversation around the thoughts and experiences I have around work and life. It’s a creative activity that gives me energy — energy that fuels all the other things I do. I love when I hear it makes someone laugh, think, see something differently.
Even if no one reads it, I’d write it anyway.
Why am I telling you all this?
I love ChatGPT. I use it every day. I used it to get the stats I quoted above.
And, there’s too much fake content trolling around the internet. Enough to make people assume it’s all fake.
And the world needs more human experience, insights, wisdom and nonsense.
So that’s why I wrote this email.
