Why am I here?

I’m not sure I know.

Is that the world’s biggest question? Maybe.

It’s not the most important one….in my books.

(I think it’s a beautiful thing when someone has a faith strong enough to provide certainty around these questions. I’m just not one of those people.)

Back to the big question.

Maybe it’s the wrong question. Or maybe there’s an equally compelling (and more actionable one).

What if, instead of asking “Why am I here?”

we asked, “How can I make my life worth living?”

Now that’s a question you can act on immediately, on any old Tuesday, in the most mundane moments, when nothing in particular is happening.

I spent 2 days last week with 24 incredible people – the full team from a thriving dental practice. Their leader is a true visionary, deeply committed to her team’s growth and development. And the only way to truly support that growth? Help each person connect to their own story of life…on purpose.

Our two-day Engage OnPrpose workshop is all about helping people connect – to who they are, what gives them purpose and meaning, and how that aligns with their shared mission as a team.

It is among my all-time favourite ways to spend my time, offer my strengths and channel my passion.

There’s a moment on the first day where everyone finishes this sentence…

“Every day, my life would be more meaningful if I …”

No one said…
…Make more money
…Work less
…Watch more Netflix
…Eat more cake

Instead, they connected with the small, powerful moments that actually matter:

…if I make people smile
…if I can help our patients feel at ease
…if I help others reach their goals
…if I can live by my faith
…if I spend time with people who matter to me

What makes my life worth living?

It may not be the biggest question, but maybe it’s the most helpful one.

To my new friends, thank you for inviting me into your community, for being so open and thoughtful. It is a true privilege.

You could say…these moments are what make my life worth living. 😁

Did I just tackle the meaning of life in a One Thing Thursday? Next week I promise to talk about my experience at the grocery store…maybe.
